Currently waiting on a reply from Dustin as to whether or not he will require deposit. Aaron is working on securing entertainment, with Rolling River being an option. It has been requested that they advise if they are willing to participate by no later than May 10th. Heather will reach out to Graeme Kingdon to request a 1 to 2 paragraph biography listing his career and community involvement. This will be read allowed by the MC at the event and possibly appear in the program.
Next Bi-weekly check in is scheduled for Tuesday May 14th at 6:00 p.m. by Zoom.
Marketing update: Tickets have been printed and will be distributed to various businesses and organizations in the area for sale. Eventbrite sales have started with just over $350.00 in sales to date. CKDM, based out of Dauphin, accepted an offer for radio advertising. Eric will reach out to them requesting that they provide the MC for the event. The committee will be requesting a quote for printing a coroplast sign to be used to advertise the event. A generic pop up sign will be ordered to promote the Chamber at multiple events and tradeshows. The first of these events is Farmgate. Handwritten posters are now complete and will be distributed in Sandy Lake, Newdale, Onanole and the Park.
- Learning Opportunity: Re-Inventing Our Small Rural Towns -Lessons from Downunder. A Motion was brought forward to request that the Chamber cover the $200.00 cost for one member to attend scheduled for June 10th 9:30 -5:30 at Riverbank Discovery Centre in Brandon, Manitoba. Motion approved.
Heather will be attending and will provide a report to the Chamber.
Moved from Xero to Quickbooks Online. Melinda will include the price into her invoices which will be submitted quarterly.
Little Valley Jamboree: Ten volunteer time slots of 2 hours each for 2 people are needing to be filled. Melinda will send out details to Chamber members and request volunteers. The Jam Committee supports the Jamboree Committee and is responsible for permit, bar service, food service, and provides the security/support personnel required by liquor permit.
Leda Lake Update: Construction is scheduled to begin mid-May, starting with the Boardwalk. The Committee is currently working on getting the budget finalized, ensuring that there is enough funding for all pieces. The plan is to start small and expand as funds become available. To date, $265,000 has been raised, with five grants due by the end of May. A Facebook page, called Leda Lake Eco Park, has been created where updates as well as questions and concerns can be posted to. Monthly site meetings are planned where individuals can see the progress and ask questions. The Rolling River First Nation Elders will join the next meeting, providing support and ensuring that the Park benefits everyone in the region.
Highway Sign: The bottom piece of the town sign is in need of some updates and repairs. The Chamber will find out who owns the sign. Based on the findings, a plan will be put in place to update/repair or offer recommendations for the same. The sign should be booked as soon as possible for announcing the RCMP Musical Ride.
