The Chamber encourages all to be involved in all similar types of discussions but once a decision has been made we would not be expected to take a position on it.

  8. Correspondence from Erickson Housing Committee (Heather)

    1. Letter to Municipality of Clanwilliam - Erickson

    2. Appendices Erickson Housing

A local committee has been formed consisting of volunteers with a goal to insure quality and safe housing for the community, working together with Council to: confirm a designated parcel of land for a housing project; to confirm the required environmental assessments; to continue to identify a developer with which to work with; to request a place on the agenda of an upcoming Council meeting. More volunteers are welcome to help facilitate the committee on making the necessary changes happen. They are working towards having enough housing in Erickson for its citizens with the forecast that by 2028, 138 additional housing units will be required to meet growing demand. The recommendations will go beyond election time frames so that a change of council doesn’t affect the progress.

  1. Consideration for Chamber letter to municipality of Clanwilliam Erickson requesting them to publish council meeting agendas (Eric) It was agreed that the Chamber would support requesting that the Municipality of Clanwilliam Erickson publish their meeting Agendas prior to each meeting to add transparency and provide necessary information to ratepayers. A motion was brought forward that a letter be drafted and delivered to the Municipality requesting the publication of the Agenda and providing an update with respect to the RCMP Musical Ride: Motion approved

  2. Communications with Clanwilliam Erickson Recreation Director: Introduction by Shanna Turnbull: The Recreation Director’s role is to make sure that there are plenty of recreational activities for all citizens. Shanna provided a brief introduction to the Participation Challenge, a nation wide initiative encouraging communities to stay active or access new ways to keep active. The community receives points for every organization that registers on the page within the municipality and all of the different types of events that they may host, such as walks, community clean-up, etc. Sign up can be done under the community challenge on the website. If registering as an individual, keep a list of activities during the day (play in the playground, gardening, walk, bike, disc golf, golf, stretching, yoga, community beautification) and then bring in Shanna once a week so that she can complete the monthly record and submit. There will be a town wide community clean up - Wednesday June 5 4 to 6 at Viking Ship. Attendees are requested to wear gloves as they will be picking up garbage throughout the entire community.

  3. Highway 10 sign: The District of Clanwilliam Erickson has been contacted to see who owns the sign. Once determined the Chamber can proceed with making appropriate recommendations**.**

  5. Proposed tribute to Chamber Member, Bruce McEwing (citizen joint member with Islay Shellborn) Tabled for further discussions at next board meeting
